Troops of Fansan Yamma have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered ₦800,000 taken from them by terrorists in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A statement on Sunday by Aliyu Danja, the spokesman for the operation, said the troops also engaged terrorists in a gun battle in a separate operation in the Kankara area of the state.

“On 22 August 2026, troops of Sector 2 conducting a fighting patrol responded swiftly to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and kidnapped 6 occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road,” he said.

Mr Danja said the troops advanced to the area and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower and forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

“Following exploitation of the area, all six kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed. Troops also recovered ₦800,000 earlier taken from the victims by the terrorists.

“The money and vehicle were subsequently handed over to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume,” he noted.

He stated that in a separate operation on Friday, troops engaged terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara LGA.

According to him, the troops swiftly engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bush.

He added that troops pursued the fleeing terrorists before exploiting the area, during which one motorcycle was recovered.
