The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, says politics must not be allowed to undermine Nigeria’s national unity.

He said the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) offer a pathway to healing Nigeria’s crises and ensuring peace, unity and national cohesion.

Mr Yilwatda made this known in a statement by his senior special assistant, Malam Yusuf Dingyadi, on Sunday in Sokoto.

The national chairman extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in particular and Nigerians as a whole on the celebration of 1448 Eid-ul-Maulud.

“As Muslims across Nigeria and around the world commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), I wish to extend my warmest felicitations to all on this occasion.

“The celebration reminds us of the timeless virtues exemplified by the Holy Prophet (SAW). At this challenging moment in our national journey, these values offer us a pathway to healing, unity and renewed hope.

“I urge Nigerians to see our diversity not as a weakness, but as a source of strength. As we approach another electoral season, we must reject division, intolerance and violence.

“No political contest should destroy the bonds of brotherhood and national unity that bind us together,” Mr Yilwatda advised.

The national chairman called on the Muslim Ummah to use this blessed occasion to pray for lasting peace, security, prosperity and wisdom for the leaders.

“In spite of our challenges, Nigeria remains a nation of immense talent, resilience and promise,” he said.

Mr Yilwatda prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the supplications of all Nigerians, and urged Him to grant leaders wisdom and courage to lead Nigeria to the promised land.

“I wish the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians a peaceful, joyful and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Maulud,” Mr Yilwatda prayed.

The federal government had declared Tuesday a public holiday to commemorate the 1448 Eid-ul-Maulud celebration across the country.
