TCN announces temporary outage over Kukwaba transformer maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a temporary shutdown of electricity supply to consumers in Trademore, Sabon Lugbe and environs, America International School, Galadimawa, SunCity and its environs.
This was disclosed by in a statement on Tuesday in a statement by the TCN management.
The statement noted that 132/33kv Kukwaba transmission needed urgent maintenance, adding that power supply would be shut down between 13:30 p.m to 3 p.m on Tuesday.
“The exercise will enable TCN’s engineers carry out maintenance on its 60MVA 132/33kV Transformer and amend the hot-spot on the 33kV L32 Blue -Phase current transformer today, 25th August 2026, from 12;30 am to 3:00pm,” it said.
It stated that during the maintenance period, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to supply power to customers in Trademore, Sabon Lugbe and environs, America International School, Galadimawa, SunCity and environs, and Kabusa Garden Estate, Sabon Lugbe and environs.
The company apologised for the inconvenience the outage would cause electricity consumers in the affected areas.
