The Borno State police command has arrested two suspected thieves for breaking into a Maiduguri provision shop and recovered cash and other exhibits from the suspects.

A statement on Tuesday by the command’s spokesman, Nahum Daso, said the shop owner reported the incident on Sunday, after his shop was burgled.

He stated, “On 23 August 2026, at about 1400hrs, one Mohammed Bello Umar reported to the command that his shop located at Gwange Zuwa Dawuri Area Maiduguri, was burgled in the early hours of 20th August 2026.”

He noted that the complainant said N2,000,000, alongside provisions and other items kept in the shop, were taken away by the perpetrators.

Mr Daso said following the report, the operatives of the command’s State Intelligence Department (SID) commenced investigation, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Hussain Mohammed, 17, and Rabiu Yusuf, 17, both of Gwange Zuwadawuri area, Maiduguri.

He noted that during investigation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime, adding that they also mentioned two accomplices identified as Kalifa and Pato.

Mr Daso said that the command recovered N430,000, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend two suspects currently at large.
