Eid-el-Maulud: Gov Sanwo-Olu felicitates Muslims, urges peaceful coexistence

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has felicitated Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the celebration of Eid el-Maulud, urging them to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad.
Gboyega Akosile, special adviser on media and publicity to Mr Sanwo-Olu, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.
According to Mr Sanwo-Olu, Muslim faithful should always reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and exemplary life.
The governor said the virtues demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad remained relevant to the quest for a peaceful, united and progressive society.
”This occasion provides an opportunity for Muslims faithful to promote kindness, compassion, and peaceful coexistence in their daily interactions with others.
“The life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad should also remind us of the importance of integrity in our dealings with one another.
“I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to use this occasion to reflect on these virtues and allow them to guide their actions and relationships with others,” he said.
The governor also called on residents to continue to promote tolerance, understanding and mutual respect, saying “these values are essential for sustainable development.
“May our homes be filled with joy, and may Allah continue to guide and bless Lagos State and Nigeria.
“I pray for peace, unity, prosperity and continued progress in our state and country,” Mr Sanwo-Olu added.
He wished Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid el-Maulud celebration, urging them to continue to support a better and more prosperous Lagos.
