George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has commended the Renewed Hope Global team for showcasing the federal government’s policies, developments, and achievements to the international community.

Mr Akume gave the commendation on Saturday in Abuja when the group formally presented a 50-page strategic performance report on its global tour to the federal government.

The report documents the activities, outcomes, and strategic opportunities arising from the Renewed Hope Global Tour, which traversed four continents and eight cities.

The initiative, chaired by Joseph Adebola, carried the Renewed Hope message from Abuja across four continents and eight global cities, including New York, London, Dubai, Zurich, Windsor, Cotonou, and Toronto.

It provided platforms for high-level engagements, international outreach, diaspora interaction, strategic partnerships, and the promotion of Nigeria and the President Bola Tinubu-led Renewed Hope administration.

Mr Akume, while receiving the report, described the action of the team as an unprecedented demonstration of patriotism, describing its members as champions of the diaspora.

He praised the team for its commitment and sacrifices, saying the group’s actions epitomised patriotism.

“What the team has carried out has never been done before, where devoted citizens embark on such ambassadorial, humongous tasks without asking for a penny,” he said.

The presentation delegation was led by Ade Omole, whom President Bola Tinubu had described as the face of the Nigerian diaspora.

Mr Omole, while presenting the 50-page report, said that it provided a comprehensive record of the team’s tour, covering the principal engagements across four continents and participation by senior government officials.

He said that it also covered meetings with international stakeholders, diaspora interactions, opportunities identified during the engagements, and recommendations for sustaining the gains made.

According to him, more than 38 senior officials of the Renewed Hope administration participated in the tour at different stages, including governors, ministers, heads of government institutions, and senior presidential advisers.

“Remarkably, the entire exercise was undertaken without a single penny of funding from the federal government.

“The tour was driven by a simple conviction: that citizens who believe in their country can lend their time, networks, resources and expertise to help project Nigeria positively around the world,” Mr Omole said.

He said the team deliberately set out to create meaningful engagements that would showcase Nigeria and communicate the direction of the Renewed Hope administration.

He said that the team also aimed to strengthen relationships with strategic stakeholders and deepen engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora.

Mr Omole said the presentation was more than delivering a report, adding that it was the formal submission of a body of work that took the Renewed Hope message beyond Nigeria’s borders.

He said that it was a report on how Nigerians and international stakeholders were brought together around the country’s development story.

Speaking on the significance of the exercise, Mr Omole said the team was determined to properly document the lessons, relationships, and opportunities generated during the tour and make them available to the federal government.

He described the initiative as an effort to “take Renewed Hope to the world, showcase Nigeria, build partnerships and deliver prosperity”.

He said the report marked an important milestone in the initiative and provided a consolidated account of a tour conceived as a citizens-led contribution to Nigeria’s international image, partnerships, and development agenda.
