Police nab nine Niger residents for homicide, thuggery in Minna

The police command in Niger has arrested nine people for thuggery and stabbing of one resident to death in the Maitumbi area of Minna.
A statement on Monday by Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesman, identified the victim as Nafiu Mohammed.
He was stabbed to death on the penultimate Tuesday.
He said that police operatives attached to the Div moved to the area and the victim was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he was confirmed dead.
Mr Abiodun said police tactical teams were immediately deployed to the location and arrested the suspects.
The suspects are Emmanuel Moses, 25; Lukman Mohammed, 25; Abdullahi Mohammed, 19; Sani Ibrahim, 18, with a long cutlass; Abdullahi Yusuf a.k.a Challo, 22; and Adamu Isyaku, 20.
According to police, Muhammad Sani was fingered to be responsible for the death of the victim.
Mr Sani remains on the lam.
Mr Abiodun said that on the same date at about 12:00 a.m., Police operatives raided some blackspots along Maitumbi-Gwada road and arrested three suspects, Nura Murtala, 19, Idris Aliyu, 19 and Haruna Ibrahim, 21, all of Saiko area
“They were arrested with cannabis, one cutlass, four scissors, and shisha pipes with pot,” the police spokesman stated.
