Veteran golfer Tiger Woods is set to appear in court for the first time since pleading not guilty to charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a test following a car crash in March.

Despite the initial not-guilty plea, documents filed in the Martin County circuit court in Florida on Tuesday showed Mr Woods planned to change his plea at a conference hearing scheduled for Wednesday morning.

However, the court filings did not specify the nature of the plea Mr Woods intends to enter or provide further details about the expected change.

The 15-time major champion was first arrested on March 27 following an accident in Martin County in which he rolled over his Land Rover after clipping a pressure cleaner truck on Jupiter Island.

Mr Woods tested negative for alcohol after taking a breathalyser test at the scene but refused to submit a urine sample to confirm whether there was the presence of drugs or medication.

He was subsequently charged with driving under the influence with property damage and refusing to submit to a lawful test. He was held in jail for over eight hours, in accordance with Florida law, before he was released on bail.

The World Golf Hall of Famer made his first court appearance on March 31, when he pleaded not guilty to the charges but now intends to change his plea.

It was not the first time that Mr Woods has been involved in a car accident. In 2021, he was left with significant leg injuries after his vehicle rolled over several times in a lone car crash outside of Los Angeles.
