A 24-year-old man, Oluwafemi Ayomide, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged N600,000 fraud.

Mr Ayomide, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the charge of fraud.

The prosecutor, Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 24, 2024, at Abuja Quarters, off NTA Road in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N600,000 from Oluwatobilola Precious on the pretext of making a bed frame and a wardrobe for him.

Mr Apata said that Mr Ayomide, however, failed to deliver on the contract.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 329 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

Defence counsel, Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendant N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case until September 30 for hearing.
