“Content creator,” presidency slams Peter Obi for attending Seyi Makinde’s APM Abuja event

The presidency on Tuesday described the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, as a content creator for attending the presidential campaign inauguration of Oyo State Governor and Allied People’s Movement’s flag bearer for 2027, Seyi Makinde.
Presidential spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, in a post on X on Tuesday, said Mr Obi “just loves content creation. As a presidential candidate of a party, he attended a campaign flagging of another presidential candidate @seyimakinde.
“In that rally, he was shouting APM @AlliedPeoples (which is a political colloquialism meaning supremacy of the party mentioned) yet that contradiction did not make it to “stories trending.” Why? Because it will portray @PeterObi as a none other than a content creator candidate.”
However, explaining why he attended the Monday event in Abuja, Mr Obi said his move was to promote politics of mutual respect and civility.
“Yesterday, I attended the opening of the national campaign office of an opposition presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde in Abuja,” Mr Obi said in a post on X on Tuesday.
He added, “My presence was intended to demonstrate that politics can and should be conducted in an atmosphere of mutual respect and civility. As Governor of Anambra State, I made it a point during electioneering to welcome visiting opposition members personally, provided they acted within the ambits of the law.”
