Borno police arrest suspect, recover stolen vehicle

The Borno State police command has arrested a suspect, Umar Abubakar, and recovered a 200 model Honda Civic in Maiduguri metropolis.
A statement on Thursday by Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command’s spokesman, said the vehicle was recovered on Wednesday at about 6:00 p.m., following a report by the owner, Abdulkarim Sani.
“Acting on the complaint, operatives of the SID immediately commenced an intelligence-led surveillance within the metropolis, which subsequently led to the interception and arrest of Umar Abubakar M, 48 years old, of Tashan Bama Area, Maiduguri, who was found in possession of the vehicle,” he said.
He stated that the suspect and the recovered vehicle were in custody, undergoing a discreet investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, commended the operatives for their vigilance and sustained intelligence-led efforts in combating crime across the state.
He assured members of the public that the investigation is ongoing and that any further developments will be communicated accordingly.
