American multinational semiconductor company Micron has announced that its direct labour employees in Taiwan will receive cash bonuses amounting to 35 to 68 months of pay for fiscal 2026.

Reports noted that the minimum monetary compensation each eligible worker would receive is T$1.7 million ($53,809.39), with the company citing an extraordinary fiscal year.

According to Micron, the payouts would extend to operators, technicians and shift engineers, and the company said the compensation package was its strongest ever, with more than 60,000 employees globally set to benefit from fiscal 2026 rewards.

The announcement came just over a week after the unions representing nearly two-thirds of Micron’s Taiwan staff threatened to strike over bonus disputes.

Reuters reported at the time that the union claimed more than 80 per cent of surveyed members had backed industrial action, with its demands including a one-off payment and quarterly bonuses tied to 15 per cent of operating profit.

Micron, the world’s third-largest memory-chip maker, reported record revenue of $41.46 billion and net income of $28.24 billion for its fiscal third quarter ended May 28, driven by increased market demand.
