The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a five-hour power outage in Bida, Niger, to carry out annual preventive maintenance at its 132/33kV transmission substation.

The company said the exercise will be carried out on Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., noting that the crew will maintain a 60MV 132/33kV transformer and associated switchgear in the substation.

According to the management, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in Bida Town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba Goshigi, Lafiyagi Essa, Amgulu, Mansantali, Agaie Town, Low Cost, Masaga, and surrounding villages during the maintenance period.

“Power supply will be restored to the affected areas upon completion of the maintenance exercise,” it said.

The company further apologised for the inconvenience this planned maintenance will cause electricity customers in the affected areas.
