Patrick Egwu, on Wednesday, assumed duty as the 22nd Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Enugu State Command.

Mr Egwu served as the Zonal Head of Administration, Zone 9 Headquarters, Enugu, before his elevation.

Speaking during an interview in Enugu, he promised to prioritise measures capable of reducing road crashes in the state.

Mr Egwu said, “My major goal is to ensure reduction of road crashes on roads, especially on the Ugwu-Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and the Ozalla axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.”

He also said that he would pursue the attainment of the 2026 FRSC Corporate Strategic Goals meant to improve road safety service delivery and ensure fuller lives on the road.

He called for cooperation from stakeholders, especially fleet operators, commercial vehicle drivers, motorists and all the road users.

According to him, road safety remains a shared responsibility of every road user and, by extension, all Nigerians.

“FRSC is the lead agency on road safety and management. However, we need everybody and their contributions to ensure our roads are safe for all always.

“I will also call for a strong synergy and collaboration from sister security agencies and other organisations, even the media, to enable us to achieve our set goals,” Mr Egwu said.
