Egypt’s trade with BRICS countries rises 25.5% to $36 billion
Egypt’s trade with BRICS countries reached $36.7 billion in the first half of 2026, up 25.5% from $29.3 billion in the same period in 2025.
This data comes from Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The figures highlight the growing role of BRICS countries in Egypt’s international economic relations, TV BRICS reported.
Egypt’s exports to BRICS countries amounted to $6.6 billion in the first half of 2026.
The UAE was one of the largest destinations, receiving $1.7 billion worth of Egyptian goods.
Exports to India reached $868 million, while China and Brazil accounted for $841 million and $633 million, respectively.
Precious stones, jewellery and related products were Egypt’s leading export category to BRICS markets, valued at $1.2 billion.
Vegetables and fruit followed at $1 billion, while mineral fuels and oils amounted to $844 million. Fertiliser exports reached $552 million, and electrical machinery and equipment totalled $400 million.
Egypt’s imports from BRICS countries rose to $30.2 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with $21.8 billion a year earlier.
China was the largest source of imports at $10.4 billion, followed by the UAE at $5.3 billion and Russia at $3.8 billion.
Mineral fuels and oils represented the largest import category at $5.2 billion, followed by electrical machinery and equipment at $4.6 billion.
Grain imports were valued at $2.1 billion, while iron, steel and related products reached $1.8 billion.
Economic cooperation also extended to investment. BRICS countries invested $6.2 billion in Egypt during the 2024/2025 financial year, while Egyptian investments across BRICS countries amounted to $2.2 billion.
Financial flows also showed growth. Remittances from Egyptians working in BRICS countries reached $15.7 billion in 2024/2025, up from $9.8 billion in the previous financial year, an increase of around 60 per cent.
The figures show the growing scale of Egypt’s trade, investment and financial ties with fellow BRICS countries since its accession to the group.
