The police command in Cross River says it has recovered a tricycle suspected to have been stolen in Akwa Ibom and apprehended a 22-year-old suspect.

The command’s spokesman, Sunday Eitokpah, disclosed this in a statement in Calabar on Friday.

Mr Eitokpah said officers recovered the tricycle, numbered AZA 504 QJ, at Mayne Avenue, Calabar South, on September 15, following credible information. He said officers apprehended the suspect while allegedly negotiating to sell the tricycle.

The police spokesperson said preliminary investigation showed that the suspect stole the tricycle in Akwa Ibom and drove it to Calabar.

“The tricycle has been recovered and secured as an exhibit; efforts are ongoing to trace and establish its rightful ownership,” he said.

In another incident, the police command in Cross River said it detained an 18-year-old suspect over the theft of a power generator at Nyawawo Street, Calabar South.

Mr Eitokpah further said that the generator had been recovered and secured as an exhibit. He said the investigation was ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the theft and confirm the generator’s rightful owner.
