The Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) has warned politicians in Plateau against pasting their posters on public facilities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hart Bankat, the general manager of the board, gave the warning in a statement on Saturday in Jos.

Mr Bankat said the move was in line with Executive Order 003 of 2024, which regulates buildings and vehicular traffic in the state.

He particularly warned that violators would face the wrath of the law, including the payment of a N500,000 fine as provided in the executive order.

He noted that the notice was pursuant to the board’s statutory responsibility for the regulation of physical development, outdoor advertising, and the orderly use of public spaces.

“By this order, political posters, banners and other campaign materials shall not be pasted, mounted or displayed on public buildings, bridges, road infrastructure and other authorised locations.

“This is to preserve the aesthetics of the city of Jos, protect public infrastructure and ensure public safety during campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections,” he said.

The general manager urged political parties, candidates, campaign organisations and advertising firms to obtain prior approval before erecting or displaying any outdoor campaign materials.
