Brighton continued their perfect form, ending defending champions Arsenal’s nine-game winning streak with a 3-0 win at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Pascal Groß opened the scoring for the Seagulls in the 31st minute, with Charalampos Kostoulas assisting the German international.

Brighton increased their advantage as Kostoulas fired a stunner to make it 2-0, with Diego Gomez picking up an assist.

The hosts made it 3-0 when Spanish midfielder Chema Andreas headed in a brilliant delivery from Groß, increasing his assist tally to three in the campaign.

The Seagulls came close to adding a fourth, with Malick Yalcouye hitting the woodwork.

The result follows their 3-2 comeback win against Manchester United on Wednesday in the EFL Cup at Old Trafford.

It also marked the third time Brighton have edged the league’s defending champions at home.

For Mikel Arteta, it is the first time since May 2023 that his side have lost a league game by three plus goals.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 to secure their first league win as Spurs continue their winless run, while Everton beat 10-man Ipswich Town 1-0 and Newcastle ended Hull City’s unbeaten streak with a 2-1 win.

Coventry City sealed their first Premier League triumph in 25 years at the City Ground with a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
