The Kebbi government has vowed to track down and bring to justice the killers of the village head of Lafagu in Bagudo council area, Saidu Mujeli.

In a statement on Sunday, Governor Nasir Idris expressed concern over the security situation around Kaoje, particularly in Lafagu and Buya communities, where lives were lost, and residents were reportedly displaced.

“I received with profound sadness and deep concern the unfortunate incidents that occurred around Kaoje, particularly in the Lafagu and Buya communities, which resulted in the loss of lives, including the death of the village head of Lafagu,” he said.

Mr Idris described the incident as barbaric and disturbing. He condoled with the families of those who lost their loved ones and all those affected by this unfortunate situation.

The governor assured the people of the state government’s support to security agencies while strengthening ongoing efforts to restore peace and security to the affected areas.

He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, peaceful and law-abiding, while calling on community leaders and residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing relevant information that could assist ongoing efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attacks.

The police confirmed the attacks and killings, disclosing that some arrests had been made.
