Woman in court over alleged reckless driving
A 37-year old woman, Julianah Adebusuyi, was on Thursday, arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, Osun State, and charged with alleged reckless and unlicensed driving.
The prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adesina, told the court that the defendant committe3d the offences at about 2.20p.m on September 11, at Ilare Junction, Ile-Ife.
Mr Adesina said that the defendant recklessly drove a Ford Focus car with registration number: LES 253 AG, and caused damage to a Lexus car marked EYCAMB-17.
The prosecutor further stated that the defendant drove the vehicle on a highway without a driving licence.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 6(10), 10(3) and 18 of the Road Traffic Code, Cap. 135, Vol. II, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defence counsel, Alfred Omotayo, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms, and assured that she would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Abosede Sarumi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.
Ms Sarumi ordered that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, provide a National Identity Card, and have their address verified by the prosecutor.
She further ordered that the surety should provide three-year tax clearance certificate and present three recent passport photographs.
The magistrate adjourned the case until November 23 for hearing.
