Officials of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, on Monday, arrested a suspected burglar for allegedly stealing an aluminium window and pumping machine wires from a building in the Oluomo area of Koko, Atan-Ota.

The So-Safe Corps state commander, Soji Ganzallo, in a statement by the corps’ spokesperson, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, on Thursday, said the 33-year-old suspect was nabbed at about 3:30 p.m., following a distress call to the Atan-Ota area commander, Job Adeniji.

Mr Ganzallo said, “Upon receiving the information, the Area Commander promptly deployed officers within the vicinity to verify the report, and upon arrival at the scene, recovered one aluminium casement window, one knife, and pumping-machine wires were retrieved from the suspect.”

Mr Ganzallo explained that preliminary interrogation conducted by Mr Adeniji showed that the suspect who confessed to the theft, identified himself as Odede Afeez, a bricklayer, residing at Koko Ebiye, Atan-Ota, where he claimed to have lived for over one month.

“When further interrogated on how long he had been involved in such activity, the suspect stated that it was his third time. He further confessed that he had previously removed another window and sold it to a scrap dealer for ₦18,000 (Eighteen thousand naira). He added that he previously resided at Iwoye, along Ilaro in the Yewa South Local Government Area before relocating to Atan-Ota.”

He stated that following preliminary investigation at the Area Command, the suspect and the recovered items were subsequently transferred to the Divisional Police Command, Atan-Ota, for further and proper investigation.
