The Nigerian Navy on Thursday inaugurated Quick Impact Projects executed under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Scheme in the Gidan Mutum Daya, Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina.

The projects, executed in honour of Aminu Abdullahi, Director, Ship Spares, Naval Headquarters, and indigene of the community, included a 10,000-capacity solar-powered borehole and the renovation of the Community Day Secondary School.

Other facilities provided under the intervention included desks, reading and writing materials, mathematical sets, school bags and toilets to support teaching and learning in the community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Abdullahi expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Idi Abbas, for approving the intervention and supporting development initiatives in the community.

He urged residents to take ownership of the projects and ensure their proper use and maintenance.

“I want the community to take ownership and use the facilities judiciously,” Mr Abdullahi said.

The projects were officially inaugurated by Governor Dikko Radda, represented by his deputy, Faruk Lawal-Jobe.

Mr Lawal-Jobe congratulated Mr Abdullahi for his contribution to the development of his community and wished him continued success.

He also commended the Nigerian Navy for implementing projects that would positively impact the lives of residents.

The deputy governor urged the community to ensure the proper utilisation and maintenance of the facilities.

He said the intervention would contribute to improving the standard of teaching and learning in the area, adding that the community would remain grateful to Mr Abdullahi for his contribution to its development.

Representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Director of Planning, Nigerian Navy, Adamu Yahaya, congratulated the people of Gidan Mutum Daya and Mr Abdullahi on the successful completion of the projects.

Mr Yahaya said the Nigerian Navy recognised that security was strengthened and sustained when communities were empowered to achieve meaningful development.

According to him, empowering communities through civil-military cooperation remained important to strengthening the relationship between the armed forces and the people they served.

Mr Yahaya said the Chief of the Naval Staff Quick Impact Scheme was designed to address critical community needs and strengthen the bond between the armed forces and host communities.

He said the intervention demonstrated the impact of the scheme on community development, particularly in improving teaching and learning and enhancing the wellbeing of beneficiaries.

The event was attended by military officers, government officials, community leaders, traditional rulers and residents of Gidan Mutum Daya.
