Troops of Fansan Yamma have foiled a terrorist attack and arrested a suspect in separate operations in Rijana and Awom villages of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

This was disclosed on Saturday by the spokesman for the operation, Aliyu Danja, who said the operation conducted between Wednesday and Thursday also led to recovery of AK-rifles and other ammunition.

He stated, “Acting on credible intelligence of terrorists movement through the bushes of Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops swiftly mobilised to the area, laid an ambush and engaged the terrorists on sighting.”

He stated that following the engagement, troops conducted a follow-up exploitation of the general area, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, one magazine carrier and one military jungle hat, among other items.

Mr Danja said in a separate operation on the same day, troops conducted a clearance operation at Awom village aimed at denying terrorists and other criminals safe haven in the community.

“During the operation, troops arrested a suspected criminal identified as Mr Jacob, who was found in possession of one fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition,” he noted. 

He stated that the suspect was currently in military custody, for further investigation.
