The Oyo State police command has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered one locally made pistol with a live cartridge along the Ibadan–Ife Road by Ajia Junction in the state.

In a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesman, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search operation conducted on Friday at about 5: 30 p.m.

“A white-coloured Mazda bus driven by one Sanusi Afeez Adedamola ‘M’ of Owena and travelling from Ibadan towards Ondo State, was intercepted and subjected to a search,” he said. 

He stated that the search subsequently led to the arrest of one of the passengers, identified as Emmanuel Kingsley Odoh for unlawful possession of one locally made pistol and a live cartridge.

Mr Olayinka said following the recovery, the firearm and ammunition were immediately secured as exhibits, while the suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.
