The Anti-Corruption Crusaders Network has dismissed the allegations levelled against a senior officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Dare Folarin. 

A petition dated July 9, 2026, signed by Adedeji Sunday Ajala and addressed to the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, accused Mr Folarin of nefarious activities, including abuse of office, corruption and others, urging the commission to investigate them.

“The alleged activities of Mr Dare Folarin reveal a troubling pattern of conduct suggestive of the manipulation of investigative processes, interference with due process, abuse of official authority for personal gain, compromise of sensitive investigations, improper associations with suspects and politically exposed persons, the alleged receipt of bribes in foreign currencies and other acts inconsistent with the ethical and professional standards expected of an officer of the commission,” the petition read.

It noted that the nature, frequency and consistency of the allegations raised serious concerns regarding possible criminal misconduct, abuse of office and institutional corruption, adding the allegations might reveal serious violations of the law if thoroughly investigated.

However, in a statement by the ACCN’s managing director Ahmed Mahmud on Friday, it described the allegations as unfair and malicious.

“As a watchdog in the anti-corruption corridor, the Anti-Corruption Crusaders Network has watched with great shock how a provenly hardworking officer of the EFCC was attacked unfairly and maliciously by a faceless group raised by a well known Mr Fix It within the commission, all in an attempt to settle some scores and fight for relevance,” the group stated.

The group, which claimed that the allegations against Mr Folarin remained unproven, alleged campaign of calumny against him.

“They accuse the officer of approving petitions, among other frivolous and baseless allegations that cannot be proven. It reveals that certain individuals within the organisation believe its leadership is their birthright,” it added.

The ACCN urged Mr Olukoyede to identify those peddling lies against Mr Folarin, vowing continued support for the anti-graft agency.

“All the tissue of lies raised against the senior officer cannot stand because there is no iota of truth in them.

It urged Mr Olukoyede to ensure that those spreading falsehood and campaign of calumny against Mr Folarin were made to prove their allegations. 

Efforts to get a comment from the EFCC were futile as its spokesman, Dele Oyewale, did not reply to calls and messages sent to his phone as of the time this report was filed.
