The Ondo State police command has tracked and arrested a fleeing security guard over alleged stealing of two generator belong to his employer in Alagbaka Extension, Akure.

A statement on Saturday by the command’s spokesman, Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspect confessed to crime and was charged to court.

He stated the suspect stole two two generators, valued at N950,000, belonging to the suspect’s employer, adding that the incident was reported at the ‘A’ Division, Akure, by one Ogunyinka of Alagbaka Extension, Akure.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, who was employed as a security guard by the complainant, allegedly took advantage of his position to steal one Fireman generator and one Honda generator, with a combined value of N950,000, before absconding from the area”, Mr Jimoh. 

According to him, following the report, detectives commenced an investigation and gathered intelligence indicating that the suspect had fled to Ogun State in an attempt to evade arrest.

“Acting on the information, the police successfully tracked the suspect to Ogun State, where he was apprehended,” he said. 

He stated that during interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the commission of the offence, providing investigators with useful information concerning the circumstances surrounding the theft.

He added that the suspect was subsequently subjected to further investigation and charged to court in accordance with the law.
