Nigerian woman arrested by police for killing co-wife
The police command in Bauchi says it arrested a 33-year-old housewife for allegedly killing her co-wife at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate.
A statement on Monday by Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesman, said the incident occurred on Sunday at about 4:05 p.m.
He stated that the C-Division, Bauchi, received credible information that there was a domestic incident between two co-wives residing in the same household belonging to their husband.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the second wife, one Hauwa’u Haruna, 33 years old, allegedly acting under hallucinations, armed herself with a pestle and struck the first wife, one Jamila Adamu, 43 years old, on the forehead,” he said. “The scene was documented, and the victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was certified dead by a medical doctor.”
Her corpse had been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, the police said.
The police commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
