Egypt launches first locally developed industrial robot
Egypt has unveiled its first domestically developed industrial robot.
Locally sourced components currently make up 80 per cent of the robot.
In the near future, the plan is to increase this to 90 per cent once motor production has been localised.
Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, described the project as an important step toward strengthening Egypt’s manufacturing capacity and building more efficient, competitive factories.
He said the project also demonstrated young Egyptian specialists’ ability to turn knowledge and innovation into industrial products.
The ministry will develop mechanical engineering and production lines as part of implementing Egypt’s industrial strategy.
Mr Hashem added that the ministry would support initiatives to strengthen the manufacturing sector and create opportunities for young professionals.
Earlier, Egypt’s capital, Cairo, ranked 86th in the 2026 global ranking of the top 100 innovation clusters, compiled by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
