The campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has branded Governor Seyi Makinde as clueless and a total embarrassment over what it described as a failure to address hunger in the state. 

Bisi Oladele, spokesperson for Senator Sharafadeen Alli’s Campaign Organisation, in a statement on Tuesday, accused Mr Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the 2027 general election, of neglecting the people of Oyo State.

The campaign organisation said Mr Makinde failed to address “hunger in Oyo State despite increased funds from the federation account, adding that “Makinde has shown that he is more than clueless.”

The statement came after Mr Makinde, during a Town Hall meeting in Nasarawa, challenged President Bola Tinubu’s narrative regarding the increment in monthly federal allocations given to states, tagging it as illusions and inflation-eroded transfers amid widespread hunger in the country and a drop in purchasing power. 

Mr Alli’s campaign organisation, however, faulted Mr Makinde’s description, claiming the governor acknowledged that Oyo State receives more money from the federal government than Nasarawa but has failed to tackle hunger across the state.

“If through the ingenuity and purposeful leadership of President Tinubu, Oyo State allocation from the federation account has increased tremendously, should it also be the duty of the President to ensure judicious use of the money? 

“If you have acknowledged that monthly, you have been getting more money from the federation account, who are you expecting to come and help you to fight hunger in your state? Is it President Tinubu?” the organisation stated. 

Mr Alli’s campaign organisation also alleged that Mr Makinde had refused to grant autonomy to local governments in Oyo State, urging voters not to repeat what it described as the same mistake in the 2027 governorship election.
