Opposition coalition visits Atiku ahead of 2027
Some opposition coalition leaders on Wednesday met with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to strengthen alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Muhammed Ishaq, on Wednesday said the party’s National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, was among the opposition figures that visited Mr Abubakar at his residence in Abuja.
It stated that the engagement served as a major boost for the coalition, as it was working to broaden its collective capacity to ensure a better Nigeria ahead of the 2027 polls.
On the alleged crackdown in Borno State, the coalition was quoted to have decried the detention of some youths for reportedly displaying political messages.
“The reported arrest in Borno State of young people wearing T-shirts bearing political messages is unequivocally condemned.
“Nigeria must not become a country where citizens are treated as hostages and released only when political conditions are met,” it said.
