Troops rescue five kidnap victims in Katsina, recover rustled livestock in Sokoto

Troops of Fansan Yamma have rescued five kidnap victims in the Madaci Forest area of Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The Nigerian Army said on Thursday that troops acted on timely information indicating the movement of terrorists around the Madaci Forest area of Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state.
“The troops rapidly mobilised and intercepted the criminals through effective tactical manoeuvres. The decisive action caused confusion in the enemy camp, leading to the safe rescue of five female victims, including a mother and her infant, alongside three other minors and young adults, all originally from Danja and Funtua LGAs,” the army said .
It stated that the rescued individuals had been safely handed over to the Chairman of Bakori LGA, Abubakar Musa, for reunification with their families.
The army said troops were currently maintaining aggressive patrols to dominate the area and deny criminals freedom of movement.
In another incident, the army said troops repelled a terrorist attack in Badiya Village, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
“Acting on reliable intelligence regarding suspicious movements, the troops engaged the hostile elements with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding terrain and abandon a large herd of rustled livestock,” it said.
It noted that the recovered animals had been successfully returned to their rightful owners in a brief ceremony facilitated by the chairman of Shagari Local Government Area and the local district head to restore normalcy and support the community.
