Distressed mother says kidnappers seized her child going to Akwa Ibom NYSC camp, 18 others

The distressed mother begged President Bola Tinubu and the IG for the rescue of her child and other 18 passengers.

An unidentified mother of a prospective National Youth Service Corp member has cried out for help over the abduction of her child and other passengers along Imo/Abia road on Thursday. 

The passengers were said to be travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to Akwa Ibom State.

Dressed in a light yellow gown and a black headgear, the distressed mother in a viral video on Thursday, begged President  Bola Tinubu and the Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu for the rescue of her child and other 18 passengers.

“Nigerians help me. My child left home for NYSC camp and alerted our family WhatsApp group, typing “Kidnapper.” Others also sent us video. The incident happened along Imo to Abia,” she said.

According to the woman, her twin children left home for NYSC camp. The one posted to Enugu State has arrived camp but Kehinde, posted to Akwa Ibom State was the one abducted alongside other passengers.

 “We learnt my child, Kehinde, and the whole passengers and driver have been abducted. I’ve not be able to speak to my child. They were 19 abducted. Please, President and IGP of Tunji Disu, help us. Please help us resuce them. I have not been able to talk to Kehinde since then,” she said.

A man, whose faced was not shown in the video, recorded the “Uko Akwa Ibom motors Nigeria Limited ” with registration number “KTE – 360ZY,” as the bus conveying the 19 abducted passengers

Contacted, the Oyo State police spokesperson, Ayanalade Olayinka, asked Peoples Gazette to reached out to his colleague in Imo State, where the incident happened. 

But efforts to get comment from the Imo State police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, were not successful.Calls his mobile did not connect. 

Also, the Akwa Ibom State police spokesperson, Timfon John, didn’t pick calls made to her mobile as of the time this report was filed.
