“Agbara Nla: The Return” grosses N71 million, tops weekend chart

Faith-based film “Agbara Nla: The Return,” a remake of the 1993 classic “Agbara Nla,” has smashed Nigerian box office records, grossing over ₦71 million to emerge as the number one film of the week.
The film, released in cinemas on October 1, is a production of collaboration of Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films, and Circuits.
A co-director of the film Damilola Mike-Bamiloye made the announcement on his official Instagram page@damilolamikebamiloye.
The post read: “LORD! WE GIVE YOU THE GLORY!!!
“From pre-production to production, post-production, and distribution, we have seen the faithfulness of God every step of the way.
“What began as a vision has become a reality, and we know that God alone made it possible.
“Through every challenge, every breakthrough, every delay, every provision, and every open door, His hand has been evident.
“We give all the glory, honour, and praise to Jesus Christ for the journey of Agbara Nla– The Return.This is God’s doing, and we are grateful”.
Appreciating fans and supporters of the “Agbara Nla” stories, Mr Bamiloye wrote, “Thank you Nigeria. Number 1 Movie of the Week. Biggest Single Day Gross For the Month of October. Biggest Faith-Based Opener of All time.

Entertainment analysts describe the achievement as the largest single-day preview gross for any Nollywood title in West African box office history.
Fans flooded social media with congratulatory messages shortly after the milestone was confirmed, praising the production quality and emotional resonance of the release.
While official box office trackers continue to update weekly breakdowns, momentum around “Agbara Nla: The Return” shows no sign of slowing down, suggesting the project could extend its dominant run in the weeks ahead.
As the numbers continue to climb, industry watchers are closely monitoring what has become one of the years’s defining Nollywood success stories.
The film delivers a dramatic continuation of the faith-based story that resonated strongly with audiences across the region.
The original hit, “Agbara Nla,” also known as “The Ultimate Power” was released in 1993, and became one of the most popular Christian films across Nigeria and beyond.
The film explored themes of spiritual warfare, portraying the battle between good and evil through depictions of witchcraft, occult practices and demonic forces.
It also emphasised the importance of faith, prayer, evangelism, and the virtues obedience and commitment in one’s marriage and ministry.
According to the producers, the remake, “Agbara Nla: The Return” revisits the iconic storyline for a new generation of viewers while preserving its central message of the supremacy of God’s power over evil.
It is directed by Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, with seasoned cast, including Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Damilola Bamiloye as Kola, and Aanu Kolade-Abiodun as Bose, with Mike Bamiloye’s return to play his famous role as Isawuru.
