NSCDC nabs suspected cable vandals in Ilorin

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State command, has arrested two suspects for allegedly vandalising and stealing transformer cables in Tanke-Iledu, Ilorin.
In a statement on Thursday, the command’s spokesman, Ayoola Michael Shola, said the suspects were arrested on Monday following credible intelligence.
The suspects were identified as Nurah Abdullahi, 20, popularly known as Hartabo, and Sherif Abdullahi, 23.
Mr Shola stated that during the search, operatives recovered vandalised transformer cables, cable outer and inner peels, a Bajaj motorcycle, a saw, a knife and a pair of electrical gloves, among other items relevant to the investigation.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are allegedly connected to the vandalisation of electricity infrastructure within the Tanke-Iledu community,” he said.
He added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other persons suspected to be involved in the activities.
The state commandant, Abbas Ndah Mohammed, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure across the state.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation and establishment of a prima facie case, in accordance with the law.
