NDC urges calm over omission of Kano governorship candidate from INEC list

The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged members to remain calm as controversy rages over the omission of its governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam-Gwarzo, from the INEC list released on Saturday.
Yusif Fasaha, the party’s public relations officer, made the call in a statement made available to journalists in Kano.
“I want to assure you that as the PRO of the party, the problem is not from us.
“We have consulted the INEC and they told us that the problem was from computer, and they will rectify it.
“So, everybody should remain calm; as from now to Monday, another list containing his name will be out,” he said.
He said that Mr Abdussalam-Gwarzo had fulfilled all the requirements for the election, adding that “everything was done at the right time”.
“We have seen the list and will continue with consultation on the matter,” he said.
The list contained 17 governorship candidates and their running mates from different political parties.
Governor Abba Yusuf’s name was on the list as the APC candidate, alongside his deputy, Murtala Sule-Garo.
Other parties cleared were the ADC, PDP, APGA, BP, AA, AAC, LP, ZLP, SDP, APM, NDP, PRP, APP, DLA and ADP.
