Police arrest 41 suspects over alleged drug activities in Ghana

No fewer than 41 suspects have been arrested for alleged narcotics-related activities in Ghana during an intelligence-led operation in Lapaz and Chantan.
In a statement on Saturday, the police said the suspects were arrested on Thursday during raids on targeted locations.
“The operation, conducted at about 12:00 noon, targeted criminal and narcotics related activities in the two areas,” the police said.
The statement added that the arrested suspects comprised 35 males and six females.
“A search conducted on the suspects and within the operational areas led to the retrieval of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances,” it said.
According to the police, all 41 suspects were in police custody and assisting with investigations.
The police added that investigations were ongoing to establish the source, ownership and intended use of the suspected narcotic substances.
It noted that appropriate legal action would be taken against any suspect found culpable.
