The special adviser to the Kebbi governor on communication and strategy, Abdullahi Zuru, has empowered 400 residents of Zuru, comprising elderly men, women and youths.

The empowerment took place at Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area on Sunday.

Beneficiaries were given cash ranging from N10,000 to N20,000.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Zuru, who also holds the traditional title of ‘Sadaukin Zuru’, thanked Governor Nasir Idris for the opportunity given to him to serve the state and support his community.

Mr Zuru commended the Commissioner for Agriculture, Shehu Muazu, for his support and urged residents of the community to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr Idris in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking on behalf of stakeholders, Muhammad Maikudi, a member of the Kebbi Executive Committee, reassured Mr Tinubu and Mr Idris of the Zuru Emirate’s unwavering commitment to their victory in 2027.

Mr Maikudi said the governor’s efforts in addressing infrastructural deficits and rehabilitating roads, schools, and healthcare facilities, as well as improving education and agriculture, would remain indelible and were considered a debut to be repaid.

He added that Mr Idris had inspired politicians like Sadaukin Zuru to contribute to the socio-economic well-being of low-income earners, stressing: “Gov. Idris is well known outside Kebbi for his compassion, generosity, integrity and selflessness.”

On his part, Abubakar Abiola, APC chairman, Zuru Local Government, described Mr Idris as a “General commander of welfare and generosity” and urged beneficiaries to use the support to improve their business capital.

The event was attended by politicians, Kauran Gwandu support groups, market women, women and youth organisations, students and associates from Niger, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
