Femi Olaniyi-Ferrari, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, has vowed to unseat the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.

Mr Olaniyi-Ferrari said in an interview in Lagos on Monday that the SDP was determined to provide alternative leadership that would prioritise residents’ welfare, promote accountability and address the socio-economic challenges confronting the state.

“Our mission is to end the dominance of the ruling party in Lagos and provide an alternative that puts the people first.

“We believe that residents deserve leadership that listens to them and responds to their needs.

“It is unhealthy to have one political party ruling Lagos State for years. A change is deserved,” he said.

The candidate added that the party was committed to transforming Lagos’ political landscape through people-oriented policies and programmes designed to improve residents’ standard of living.

According to him, Lagos residents deserve a government that responds to their needs and is accountable for its decisions and actions.

The governorship candidate said the SDP would intensify grassroots mobilisation and engagement with residents to communicate its vision and attract support ahead of the 2027 elections.

He urged eligible voters to examine the programmes and policies of the various political parties before making their choices at the polls.

Mr Olaniyi-Ferrari said the SDP would focus on governance that promotes transparency, economic opportunities, social welfare and sustainable development.

“We want Lagosians to understand that democracy gives them the power to choose their leaders.

“Their votes can determine the direction of governance and the future they desire for the state,” he said.

The candidate expressed confidence in the SDP’s ability to mobilise support across the state, saying the party was prepared to present its agenda to voters and compete for the mandate to govern Lagos.

He called on residents to participate actively in the electoral process, adding that credible elections and informed choices were essential to strengthening democracy.

“Our goal is to build a Lagos where public resources are managed responsibly, opportunities are accessible to all and government policies reflect the aspirations of the people,” he said.

Mr Olaniyi-Ferrari said the party would continue to promote responsible leadership, accountability and inclusive development as preparations for the 2027 elections gathered momentum.
