Tinubu extends tenure of Nwakuche, Nandap

President Bola Tinubu has added 18 months to the tenures of Sylvester Nwakuche, controller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service and Kemi Nandap, comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service, citing a succession gap.
In a statement on Monday, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga said Mr Tinubu approved the extension of their tenures on the recommendation of interior minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who identified and addressed succession gaps in both services.
Mr Nwakuche’s tenure will expire on May 26, 2028 and Ms Nandap’s on June 30, 2028.
“President Tinubu commended Nwakuche and Nandap for the reforms achieved under their leadership and charged them to consolidate these gains,” the statement said.
Mr Tinubu nominated Mr Nwakuche, 59, to head the prison service in December 2024. The Senate confirmed his appointment in March 2025. He is from Imo.
Ms Nandap, 60, an indigene of Ogun, was nominated in February 2024, and her appointment was confirmed in March 2024.
