JUST IN: Ebola hits Nigeria as Abuja hospital confirms new case
A new case of the deadly Ebola virus has been confirmed in Abuja, Peoples Gazette can report.
Health authorities in the Nigerian capital are now scrambling to contain the situation, which has already devastated the Congo, Kenya and other African countries in recent months.
It was not immediately clear how the case entered Nigeria, but it was confirmed at Nizamiye Hospital, a Turkish-run facility just outside the city centre, that a female caught the virus, officials said.
The Gazette learnt that the Federal Ministry of Health under President Bola Tinubu has begun distributing financial resources to track and trace the virus to prevent its spread across Africa’s most populous country.
