Kogi gov unveils inspection kits, tasks engineers on accountability

Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi has urged engineers and other technical personnel to uphold professionalism, accountability, and safety when executing and monitoring public infrastructure projects.
Mr Ododo gave the charge on Tuesday in Lokoja while unveiling project inspection kits produced by the state Ministry of Works.
He said effective supervision, teamwork and adherence to professional standards were essential to ensuring quality, durable infrastructure and value for public funds.
The governor urged engineers to provide technical advice to political office holders whenever they identify better approaches to project execution, stressing the need for mutual respect and adherence to due process.
He also unveiled reflective jackets designed to enhance the safety and identification of engineers and other personnel during project inspections.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Salami Deedat, said the kits would give government engineers and inspection teams a distinct professional identity during site visits.
He explained that the initiative would distinguish government officials from contractors and improve the monitoring and supervision of infrastructure projects across the state.
Mr Deedat urged the personnel to use the kits appropriately and remain committed to their duties.
