Police nab Ogun man for cultism, recover pistols

The police command in Ogun has arrested a 26-year-old suspected cultist, Okiki Adewusi, aka Baba Obo, in the Ore area (Atan).
In a statement on Wednesday, the command’s spokesman, Oluseeyi Babaseyi, said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday, and two pistols were recovered.
“A search of his residence led to the recovery of one locally made pistol and three live cartridges. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect allegedly admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity,” he said.
Mr Babaseyi said that in a follow-up operation on Tuesday, at about 6:30 a.m., information from the arrested suspect led operatives to a separate location, where they recovered and secured a second pistol and a battle axe as exhibits.
According to him, the operation underscored the command’s determination to pursue actionable intelligence beyond arrests and keep potentially dangerous weapons out of circulation.
He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest other suspects and recover additional weapons, while investigations continued to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
