Bauchi police arrest man for defiling teenager

The police command in Bauchi says it arrested a 24-year-old, Jafar Mohammed, for alleged abduction and defilement of a minor.
In a statement on Wednesday, the command’s spokesman, Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesman, said the suspect had unlawful sex with the victim on August 8.
He stated that on September 3, a 35-year-old woman from Makwalla Ward petitioned the police over the disappearance of her 16-year-old younger sister, who had been missing since August 5, 2026.
The woman said efforts to trace her sister had proved unsuccessful.
Mr Habib said that following a discreet investigation, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) tracked the victim’s GSM number, 08063*****4, to Abuja, where it was found in the possession of the suspect.
“On 8th August, 2026, the victim returned home and alleged that the suspect deceitfully lured her and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent under the pretext of marrying her,” the police said.
The suspect was later arrested in October at Hayin Rigasa axis, Igabi LGA, Kaduna, and confessed to the crime.
