NTAC chief says 564 people empowered in Adamawa community
Yusuf Yakub, the director-general of the Nigeria Technical Aid Corps, has empowered 564 people in the Gombi/Hong federal constituency in Adamawa.
Mr Yakub also supported military personnel providing security in the area with food items.
Speaking at the empowerment event in Gombi on Wednesday, Mr Yakub said the financial assistance and empowerment aim to give people the dividends of democracy and ease hardship.
Mr Yakub, who was the former lawmaker representing the federal constituency, said the support extended to the military in the area resulted from the recent attack by insurgents in Gombi.
Mr Yakub explained that beneficiaries received between N50,000 and N100,000 and urged them to use the support judiciously, particularly those engaged in petty businesses.
“To our beneficiaries, I urge you to see this support as an opportunity for progress. Those engaged in petty trading and other enterprises should invest wisely, grow their activities where possible and maintain financial discipline. For those with pressing needs, I hope this intervention brings relief and renewed confidence,” he said.
Mr Yakub further called on the people in the area to remain united, peaceful and committed to democratic governance as the 2027 General Election approaches. He urged supporters and well-wishers to mobilise peacefully for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates seeking elective office.
Ibrahim Umar, Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, thanked Mr Yakub for empowering and involving indigenes in the TAC programme. According to him, the greatest infrastructure someone can build is human capital.
“Today’s empowerment programme targeting vulnerable families across Gombi and Hong is the gold standard of human capital development,” he said.
The APC governorship candidate in Adamawa, Ahmed Galadima, lauded the empowerment, saying it aligns with APC policy.
Mr Galadima called on party supporters to vote for Mr Tinubu and all party candidates for the progress of the state and the country at large.
Mr Galadima assured that he will continue improving the living standard of citizens where Governor Ahmadu Fintiri stops if elected to office.
He promised to invest in agriculture for maximum benefit and job creation and to work with traditional leaders to improve security in the state.
Adamawa APC chairman Hamza Madagali also canvassed support for Mr Tinubu and all candidates on the party platform.
