I woke up happy seeing Tinubu in Saudi Arabia for Umrah; this is why we insist on Muslim-Muslim ticket, says Plateau-based cleric Sani Jingir

A Plateau State-based prominent Islamic cleric, Sani Yahaya Jingir, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia for Umrah, saying his appearance in Umrah clothing demonstrates the equality of Muslims before Allah, regardless of their social or political status.
In a video clip seen by the Peoples Gazette, the cleric said the President, ministers, governors and ordinary workers become equal when they enter the sacred land during the pilgrimage activities.
“I woke up very happy that I saw Ahmed Bola Tinubu at Mecca. He is in Umrah. Who is president of Nigeria now? Ahmed Bola Tinubu,” he said.
He stated that the President came out wearing Umrah clothes, adding that ordinary citizens, ministers, and governors wore the same clothes.
“They have to strip the power of everyone and be equal. The President and labourers are equal. If not because we did Muslim Muslim, will our president go to Umrah,” Mr Jingir said.
He stressed that if another faith was elected as president, the country would have be in turmoil.
He stated, “If an infidel gets angry and insults me, I will tell you good things. I can’t cheat you. Either you are a Muslim or not. God stopped me from cheating others. He stopped me to lay down to be slaughtered.”
Mr Jingri further declared his support for Mr Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, saying his personal vote and those of labourers in his household would go to the President.
“The election that will happen. My vote is one and the labourers’ vote in my house is one. They will vote for the President,” he said.
The Gazette had earlier reported Mr Jingir’s support for the All Progressive Congress Muslim-Muslim ticket after he got a N600 million donation from Mr Tinubu’s aide, Ibrahim Masari.
