Lagos businessman petitions IGP Disu, PSC, National Assembly, accuses AIG Jimoh of land grabbing, others

Lagos businessman, Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the National Assembly against the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Moshood Jimoh, accusing him of land grabbing, abuse of office, abuse of power and malicious destruction of properties worth over one billion naira.
The petitioner, who submitted the petition through his lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, identified himself as the beneficial owner of the property at Plot 77, Lekki Phase 1, with Certificate of Occupancy No. 50/50/1990A, situated at Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1, issued in the name of Samuel Alao Ajibode, his elder brother, from whom he derived title upon purchase.
According to the petitioner, he and his family members had been in peaceful possession of the property since he purchased the land and built a family home and foundation for 10 additional houses valued at over ₦1,000,000,000.
Mr Osuolale explained that after his purchase and erection of structures on the land, “a company known as Skyview Properties Ltd. ( a company with strong ties to Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki) instituted an action against Mr Samuel Alao Ajibode over the said land”.
He noted that “subject property is currently an active matter of litigation in an ongoing lawsuit before the Court of Appeal of Lagos State in Appeal no: CA/LAG/CV/123/2025, wherein the rightful ownership of the land has not yet been determined or ascertained by a court of competent jurisdiction”.
“Crucially, the court had explicitly issued a subsisting stay of execution and status quo order, strictly restraining all parties, state actors, and law enforcement agencies from interfering with, demolishing, or altering the state of the property pending the final judicial outcome of the suit,” it noted.
The petitioner, however, alleged that Mr Jimoh, acting entirely out of personal, selfish and pecuniary interest in the land, mobilised heavily armed tactical police detachments alongside heavy-duty demolition machinery to the site.
The petition added, “Operating entirely without any valid court order, warrant of execution, or legal directive, he enforced the absolute destruction and flattening of our client’s property worth over ₦1,000,000,000.”
According to the petition, the “lawless and malicious demolition” was brazenly executed despite Mr Jimoh being fully aware of the pending suit and the clear, subsisting stay of execution order.
It noted that when presented with the official court records and the stay order by the owner’s representatives on-site, Mr Jimoh and his officers aggressively discarded the judicial directives, choosing instead to operate as a law unto themselves to aid illicit land-grabbing interests.
The petitioner, who claimed to have earlier lodged a petition at the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Lagos, further accused Mr Jimoh of tearing up the petition while boasting of sitting on the case.
The petition urged the IGP, PSC and the National Assembly to conduct a dispassionate and holistic investigation into the issue, calling for immediate disciplinary and administrative measures against Mr Jimoh and other liable officers for flagrant disobedience of a valid court order.
It also urged them to direct the Lagos State Command to strictly respect the court-ordered stay of execution to prevent any illegal transfer or possession of the land while the lawsuit was pending, adding that those involved in damaging the property should be held accountable as required by law.
Efforts to get Mr Jimoh to comment on the petition were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to his phone numbers were unanswered as of press time.
