The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on his 20th anniversary on the throne.

The Ooni, who also serves as Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria expressed admiration for the Sultan’s efforts in promoting peace, religious harmony and national unity over the twenty years.

The monarch spoke in a statement by the Senior Media Officer at the Ooni’s Palace, Sadiq Lawal, issued on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Moses Olafare.

Oba Ogunwusi described the Sultan as a traditional and religious leader.

He said the Sultan always worked to bring people together no matter their religion or ethnic origin.

He praised the Sultan’s dedication to dialogue and mutual understanding, adding that traditional and religious leaders have a role to play in keeping peace and stability in the country.
