Arsenal defeat Liverpool, climb top of EPL table

English Premier League champions Arsenal on Sunday climbed to the top of the table after a 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the Anfield Stadium.
Kai Havertz opened scoring for Arsenal by converting a low cross by Declan Rice in the 16th minute and held on to the lead until the end of the match.
Arsenal after match day nine now have 24 points, three ahead of second placed Manchester City, while Liverpool are now 5th on the table.
Arsenal took advantage of the Manchester City’s lone goal loss to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
The result is Mikel Arteta’s first victory as coach at Anfield, and Arsenal’s first EPL victory over Liverpool at Anfield since 2012, when Arteta was still an Arsenal player.
The defending champions also became the first team to prevent Liverpool from having any shot on target at Anfield.
