Police assess security situation in Calabar ahead of Shettima’s visit

Police in Cross River on Monday assessed the preparedness of their personnel ahead of Vice President Kashim Shetima’s visit to the state.
The state commissioner of police, Ajo Ordue, who led senior officers of the command in the exercise, stressed the need for effective security coordination during the visit.
The vice president is expected to attend the All Progressives Congress rally at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
Mr Ordue said the exercise was aimed at assessing the preparedness of security personnel and ensuring effective coordination of security operations before, during and after the visit.
He said the move was further to ensure operational readiness and adequate security for a safe, peaceful and hitch-free visit.
The police commissioner urged officers deployed for the assignment to remain vigilant, professional, and courteous in discharging their duties.
He also stressed the need for effective coordination and alertness among personnel to ensure seamless security operations.
The commissioner reassured residents and visitors of the state’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
