Oyo begins 2026 bursary screening for final-year students

The Oyo State government has announced the commencement of its 2026 bursary screening exercise for indigenes in their final year in public higher institutions across Nigeria.
The screening, organised by the Oyo State Scholarship Board, will run from November 11 to 27, 2026, according to a statement by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
The board secretary, Niyi Akinyanju, said only applicants whose online submissions met the registration requirements had been shortlisted for the exercise.
Mr Akinyanju clarified that completing online registration does not automatically qualify applicants for screening.
The board has introduced physical and online screening options. However, students studying in institutions within the South-West geopolitical zone must attend physical screening, regardless of their state of residence.
Those studying outside the zone can choose either option, depending on their location and convenience. Applicants selecting online screening are expected to keep their registered phone numbers active and accessible for verification.
Physical screening will take place at Room 83, Oyo State Scholarship Board, Ministry of Education, Secretariat, Ibadan, from 10:00 a.m. daily.
The timetable shows that students in colleges will be screened on November 11 and 12, while HND applicants will attend from November 13 to 17. University students are scheduled for November 18 to 26, while applicants in maritime and aviation programmes will be screened on November 27.
Shortlisted applicants are required to present their JAMB admission letters, local government identification letters, final-year course registration forms, recent passport photographs, school identification cards, and evidence of annual FOSSU payment.
The board urged applicants to ensure their documents were complete and authentic and to follow their assigned screening dates.
The government said the online option was introduced to improve access and reduce administrative delays in the bursary process.
